For verification, check the Sanborn Fire Map from 1900 and compare the building's footprint. The school was known as the Third Ward Public School at the time. The 1907 and the 1914 maps show that same school called the Fourth Ward Public School. The 1924 map reverts to the Third Ward designation, but the school at long last had electric lights. Central School had had electric and gas lighting all along, even when it was the Second Ward Public School in earlier times. I could spend hours looking at those maps. And did.
